Diatomaceous Earth is made up mainly of SiO2 and works as an insecticide through physical mechanisms. It works as a deterrent as bedbug do recognize its odor and stay away from it. It is only a slight obstacle for the bedbugs as they find ways around it following the trail of Co2 left by humans.
