비주류였던 힙합 부흥의 시초를 알리며, 외톨이로 최고의 한 해를 보냈던 아웃사이더가 2.5집 「주변인 (The Outsider)」으로 또 한번 돌풍을 예고한다.

지난 해 2집 앨범을 발매하고, 타이틀 곡 '외톨이'로 각종 음원 차트, 음반 차트 1위를 비롯해서 MC 스나이퍼, 클래지콰이의 호란과 함께 부른 `심장병`, 케이윌의 `최면` 등 참여하는 노래마다 연달아 히트 시키며 아이돌 중심의 가요계의 이단아로 우뚝 선 랩퍼 아웃사이더는, 정통 힙합장르로는 이례적으로 각종 음원, 음반 차트 석권을 비롯해 공중파 가요 프로그램 1위 후보에까지 오르는 기염을 토하기도 했다.

앨범 타이틀명과 동일한 '주변인'이라는 곡으로, 무미건조한 일상을 살아가는 현대인들 틈에서 어디에도 속하지 못하는 인간 내면의 상처와 외로움을 섬세하고, 드라마틱한 비트 위에 담아냈으며, 상처받은 영혼들과 소통을 통해 교감을 나누고자 하는 한 젊은이의 음악 안에서 우리는 어린 시절 처음 가지는 꿈처럼 두근거리는 가슴을 느낄 수 있을 것이다.

조PD와 라이머가 이끄는 브랜 뉴 스타덤 소속의 신예 작곡가 Master Key와 라이머가 공동 작곡을, 아웃사이더가 직접 작사를 맡았으며, 몽환적인 멜로디에 현악 스트링이 주는 비장함과 웅장함이 더해진 타이틀 곡 '주변인'을 비롯해서, 2집 앨범에서 많은 이들의 사랑을 받았던 노래 `피에로의 눈물`의 다음 이야기에는 호소력 있는 목소리와 가창력을 인정받고 있는 여성 보컬 길미가 함께 하였다.

그 외에, 떠나간 친구를 향한 후회와 그리움을 담은 노래 `바람이 불면 너가 떠올라`와 최초로 공개되는 `외톨이`의 Instrumental 등 아웃사이더만의 풍부한 감수성들이 가득 채워져 있다.

뮤직비디오는 조성모 7집 `그녀를 잘 부탁합니다`의 뮤직 비디오 감독 유우가 메가폰을 잡고, 기존 드라마 타이즈나 립싱크 형식에서는 볼 수 없었던 강렬하고 몽환적인 분위기로 듣는 즐거움을 배가시킬 수 있도록 제작되었으며, 앨범 자켓 촬영은 2집 앨범 외톨이의 작업을 함께 한 강영호 작가와 다시 손을 잡고 더욱 극대화된 외로움과 그로 인해 고통스러워하는 아웃사이더의 내면을 표현해냈다.

한편, 이번 앨범에서는 지난 2집 앨범 'Maestro'에 보여준 팬들의 큰 관심과 사랑에 보답하고자, 기존 미니앨범의 형태에서 벗어나 아웃사이더의 꿈과 삶에 대한 7편의 짧은 메시지를 에세이 형식으로 수록해 음악과 함께 책 한 권을 읽는 것 같은 꽉 찬 감동을 느낄 수 있을 것이다.

또한, 아웃사이더의 2.5집 앨범 `주변인 (The Outsider)` 발매 전 팬 미팅을 통해 앨범 중 일부를 선 공개하고, 2010년 3월 2일 온, 오프라인 동시 앨범 발매를 시작으로 본격적인 활동을 시작할 예정이며, 아웃사이더는 `이번 앨범을 통해서 더 많은 이들과, 더 깊게 소통하고 싶다`고 각오를 다졌다.

first of all, it wasnt a joke, fool. i was making a statement from me that i thought his rap sounded weird. second of all, i thought that due to his rap, something might spray from the mouth, saliva that is. do not worry, all singer does this. check it out in high speed camera. and to think that the way he raps makes saliva comes out more, it actually is quite plausible. and again, i wasnt joking. thank you, goodbye.
