MFOS Ultimate + Expander - Overview

This is part of a personal project that I've been working over last few weeks.The MFOS Ultimate is a DIY project. It's a semi-modular analog synthesizer with 3 VCOs, 2LFOS , one AR envelope , one VCA , Sample and Hold and one Low Pass filter ( 12db/oct ) and more...

The synth has a pre-wired signal and audio path but also has a lot of patch points that allow the user to create very complex sounds.

To expand de synth , MFOS has designed the Ultimate Expander, that adds new features not presented on the Ultimate synth : * ADSR envelope * Multimode filter with Low pass, Band Pass and High Pass response * Ring Modulator * CV interter * Envelope Follower * 4 channel mixer * Another VCA


This video shows only the main characteristics of this powerful synth, I will make more videos showing more complex and interesting sounds.

building an ultimate ( or even an MFOS mini-synth) would be less expensive than buying an uh, "new" analog, like a prophet '08?

@Cds56 Yes it0s cheaper but it's much harder than go to the shop and buy a synth :P , but also you can't compare an MFOS Ultimate with a p08 , they are different kind of synths. You should compare it with a modular or semimodular synth.

@Thalassa77 ...have to finish the modular first, than maybe... the problem is that S.D.I.Y is like a fever, you never stop building and there is not time enough to play some music with :(

Where can I get info on the patch points, ie what to connect where with those banana cords to get different types of sound? MFOS doesn't seem to supply a 'patching diagram' list - which would be rather cool!

@Thalassa77 I wasn't aware that you could buy new modular synths. silly me. The only modular synth that I've ever seen for sale (made by a commercial company) was an old moog modular system for 30000 $ on ebay.
