If you ever step into a New Jersey Transit train at Secaucus Junction for New York Penn Station, it is often crowded, even on the weekends. It is so crowded that many passengers stand, some even ride in the vestibule!

  • i used to always take the train to the city and it was well worth it at that time($15 RT from metuchen to NY) But now it is not worth i mean, $11 one way!

  • @trainzrok Yeah NJTransit keeps raising the ticket price, which is really annoying. Despite that, it is still better to take the train into NYC, as there are way too much traffic on highways in and around the city on top of the parking fees and tolls continue to go up. For short distance travel (up to 5-10 miles), the best way to get around suburban New Jersey is by bike, since not only you save gas and money, you also get good exercise.

  • Ok, you dont know what is like to take a bus where I live.

Your train is far faaar better, u shoudnt complain

  • @wrong1user I'm not complaining. I am just demonstrating how crowded the trains are between Secaucus, New Jersey to New York City. Driving to New York City is a LOT worse.

Yes, I do know the meaning of the word 'crowded'. Yes, I have heard of trains/subways even more crowded than the train in this video, such as the Tokyo's subway where workers have to push people in.

  • @NHRHS2010 I think it's really nuts that njt raised the fares in 2010. But I think they should at least bring back Off Peak Round Trip Tickets because it's a little to expensive to take the train to like NY. It's $15 one-way and it get also very crowded but I think that NJT should at least bring back Round Trip Fares!

  • For regular NJT riders, I'd say this is crowded. It could be more crowded but it usually never gets to that stage that often. Anyone who's rode morning Trenton trains on weekdays and even weekends knows it can get crazy. I've rode trains in the morning which have people standing from end to end (on NJCL that is). Not sure why people brag about their system having more...that's more of an issue itself than a for fun fact xD

  • Dude this how my ride was like heading to Trenton from New York yesterday. I had to stand all the way to Metro park because every seat was taken.

  • Hah that's not really crowded, in my point of view. But I know what you mean.. we live in different realities and it's hard to get on our shoes. When I went to Toronto sometimes I would hear a Canadian friend complaining about things that were so much better than what I am used to.. It was hard to hear things like that because i felt really sad that we had such a disproportional reality. But people have to deal with it, life is unfair you know..
