  • Charming song, but the audio on this clip is so low that it's difficult to hear, even with my speakers turned all the way up. :-(

  • In my opinion, one of the most underrated songs of all time, just waiting to be re-discovered.

In my view, the tempo in the movie works well with the action but is a little fast for a performance song. Anne Murray slows it down a little with great effect.

  • One of the most charming movies.

  • I seem to remember that this movie was broadcast, perhaps in several parts (I don't remember precisely), on the TV program "Off to See the Wizard" in the late 1960s, when I was only ten. Leslie Caron was captivating, and I knew enough about romantic storytelling to see the impending sadness in this happy little tune.

  • film culte ,ce passage est magique

  • Words and Music by Branislau Kaper and Helen Deutsch

A song of love is a sad song,

    Hi-Lili, Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo!

A song of love is a song of woe,

Don't ask me how I know!

A song of love is a sad song,

For I have loved and it's so...

I sit at the window and watch the rain,

    Hi-Lili, Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo!

  • @riizzyna And me - in Portuguese with Trio Madrigal

  • When I was little, before I could even speak in full sentences, I'd ask my dad to play this for me nearly every day. Thanks for posting, I'm glad to have found it again.

  • What happened to the lyrics that went: " I sit at the window and watch the rain, hi lili hi lili hi lo---tomorrow I'll probably love again hi lili hi lili hi lo'?
