Champion Shooter Doug Koenig explains this key fundamental to shooting. Get your sights aligned properly, line them up with the target and pull the trigger with out disturbing them and you'll hit the target. (NSSF Video)
@smeninternational not all the time and depending on the situation. There was a case were a guy was shooting at by standers and there was only 1 armed security guard and he couldn't get close, so he took a couple shots at 70 yards hitting him in the head. he used his sights, but i do understand your point, the average conceal carrier will be at a much closer range in a self defence scenario but might not be so close in a shoot out
@TheNSSF I have not adjustable rear sight and i really don t see why someone need them. The handgun is for self defence and self defence mean few metres. if you shoot somebody at.... let s say 50 m...this is hunting, not self defence.
The good part is that I finally understood- it s a correction tehnique.
@smeninternational - You have to adjust your sights to accomodate a six o'clock hold. By raising the rear sight on you'll raise the point of impact on the target making a six o'clock hold possible. If your gun doesn't have an adjustable rear sight that allows you to change elevation, you don't have an option and you have to adjust your sight picture to acheive the desired result.
@TheNSSF I understand that but what i can t understand is how the tehnique work. If I point and hit the middle of target with first bullet , you say that if I point at the base of target I will hit the center again with the second?
I agree with the fact that at differrent distances the base point tehnique will work, but at 10 m ...you hit what you point. I also agree that if you usually shoot higher than pointing lower as a correction will work.
