@elesha76 I can completely understand why people feel this way. In my opinion and beliefs concerning this. God does not change, but humanity, his children do. We do everything in the world to screw things up, even if we don't mean too. And this is why I believe that doctrines are brought forth in our day in age (e.g. The Book of Mormon, ect.) because we needed it for our time. People change how the world is, and so what was right for people in moses day might not be right for people in our day.
@elesha76 There is nothing wrong in knowing that the bible has flaws...it was written by and translated by men. If the Bible were perfect, there would be only one version of it, instead number there are now. Add to that the fact that the bible has been translated into over 450 languages, and you see why perfection would be impossible to maintain.
@JuicyDBASE i Know he did not make changes to the bible. But Joseph smith made another book full of things that are not in the Bible, So that is like saying God got it wrong and forgot some parts or changed his mind on others so I better go back and get this guy to re writte a new book. It does not sit well with me at all.
@JediLDS James 2 in verse 1 "My brethren" so who is James talking to the lost? or the saved followers of Jesus? so to the saved is faith good enough or must we show this conversion by how we act around the lost?
@JediLDS Ok so then in the verse you are pointing out in Mark 16:15-16 what are we "that believeth" mean? I will give you a hint in the first verse 15 "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the GOSPEL to every creature." what are we to believe in? what do the LDS say "as long as it is translated correctly"? So do you believe or is it not trustworthy?
@Exodus314IAM ... I didn't take anything out of context...just quoted the verse as it was written and which specifically states TWO conditions for salvation: BELIEF, and BAPTISM. It's right there in black and white. How anyone can just ignore AND IS BAPTIZED, I'll never know.
Simple logic will tell you that a person who does not believe, will also not be baptized. That's why baptism is not mentioned in the verse when it makes the statement about who will be damned. Crystal clear, in my opinion.
Romans 3:28 - "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law."
James 2:24 - "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only."
Seems as if there is a battle of the verses here. One says "justified by faith", and the other says that we are justified by works and NOT by faith only. Contradictions like this are not uncommon in the bible, but that does not bother me, because I accept that the bible is not perfect.
@JediLDS Yes this is why Christians use the Bible as a whole to get full clearification my friend and we trust that Gods word is full and accurate it is called faith. So when we have questions like this one brings up we go to the scriptures to clear it up not just say thats it. (Romans 3:28-30; 4:5; 5:1; 9:30; 10:4; 11:6; All of Galatians 2&3) so all these are wrong just because you take this verse out of context?
@wmc233 "special respect"? LDS are not asking for that. How about "tolerance for others beliefs"? Do you think you could show a little of that? Jesus said to "love thy neighbor", and he didn't put any exceptions on it. One can "love thy neighbor" but still disagree with his beliefs.
