Caroline Sporleder studied Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, English, and History at the Universities of Bielefeld (Germany) and Edinburgh (Scotland). In 2004 she obtained a PhD in Informatics from the University of Edinburgh.
After two postdoctoral research stays at the University of Edinburgh and Tilburg University (The Netherlands) and a visiting professorship at Heidelberg University (Germany), she joined the Cluster of Excellence "Multimodal Computing and Interaction" in 2008 as a senior researcher. Her current research interests include data-driven and statistical models of discourse and semantics, text mining for cultural heritage and bio-medical data, and machine learning techniques for cross-lingual, multi-lingual and cross-domain natural language processing.
