Pink Floyd's Great Gig in the Sky is a delightful piece written by Richard Wright. It as some very nice chord structures along it's path, and is a very well written piece in it's terms of composition.

When I look at how well structured this particular piece is written, it makes me wonder how Roger Waters sacked Richard Wright for simply what he described as not being good enough.

This particular piece uses gorgeous chords such as C7+9 F(b5) which is a diminished 5th along with 3 inversions of Bb. and B min. For Waters to make such a statement is a complete joke. This particular piece is more constructive than what Waters ever writ in his life regarding music.

The Great Gig in the Sky is a delightful piece to play. My own rendition is of course a lot shorter arrangement, and does not contain the beautiful vocals that accompanied this delightful piece.

  • Really enjoyed this one Lee, one of my fav floyd track, and you do a grand job on it, may try to learn it myself. top marks fella.

  • @elgreebo Cheers Stewart mate, it's a good one to learn mate. Obviously sounds better with the vocals in it though. But I have yet to come across one on SC who could do such a fine job with them. Quite a difficult task for many a singer I would imagine.
