I remember Clemente as a player- all-out, all the time. One of the best. I grew up in NYC and had many Puerto-Rican friends in the 1960's & 70's. Clemente may have been a hero to them as a player but more importantly, he was a hero in the way he died. I remember the shock of hearing how his plane went down while he was trying to help disaster victims in Nicaragua. Puerto Rico justifiably claims Clemente proudly as a hero, but he deserves to be considered a hero by people all over the world.
