DRINKING BLACK BEER IN TARRAGONA

After enjoying the taste of Romania's rather fab Ursus Black beer I set myself the task of finding some interesting dark ale in Spain... which is, of course more famous for it's lagers.

So after no joy in Valencia and Barcelona I was expecting a failure on my mission - until I found some produce of a small local brewery in a grocery store in Tarragona, which in itself is well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Nice place - great beer.... what could be better?

Don't you just love Tarragona? Went there three weeks ago and enjoyed a windless heatwave, which was nice.... drank Vol Damm 'Doble Malta', which is dark but not black. 7.2% though zzzzzzzz. Was delighted to witness the Castellers doing the human pyramid thing in the old town. Scorchio. xxxxx

I still remember the feeling of delight when I walked into a bar on Venice Beach CA. and found they sold proper draught Bass. Also, when he found out i was English, this bloke I started talking to in the bar put $5 worth of Dave Clark 5 records on the juke box to make me feel at home. HAHAHA.

actually that "ambar negra" he drinks is made in Zaragoza. I agree, it's better than Bock Damm but also than Guinness.

Just got back from Spain where i tried a dark beer called"Bock Damm".Nice taste,but it did'nt half knock me guts about.

In my humble opinion though, the Belgians and Czechs make probably the best beer in the world... blah blah blah

There's a nice Mexican black beer called 'Negra Modelo'. Highly recomended!! ...Will be keeping an eye out for Amber Negro! Ta!!
