Both deal with how our brains have a quick, reflexive part that is the dominant response, and a slower, reflective part, that contains our abilities for rational thinking. However the latter is lazy and ruled by the fast, instinctive, belief-generating part. Both are brief and well written.

It really isn't very hard to out-do the Bible, look up the Golden Verses of Pythagoras. They can definitely be improved upon, but they do pretty well for 71 verses.

I'd say the most important thing necessary for kids to grow up inquisitive and skeptical is to teach them not to fear having doubt especially towards adults. What I see is very often adults in childeren's lives, who by simple virtue of being an adult gain an automatic position of authority, tend to promote fear of doubt in various means.
