On the outer fringe of western Scotland, there exists a very special place. Nestled in the southwest corner of the Mull of Kintyre, where the movements of sea, sand, wind and grazing sheep have intertwined over countless centuries, an inspirational golf and holiday destination has been born. Here, in this raw and beautifully rugged place, you'll find The Village at Machrihanish Dunes -- a magical place where you can reconnect with nature while reveling in accommodations that surround you with luxury.

The Village at Machrihanish Dunes, consisting of the Machrihanish Dunes Golf Club, The Ugadale Golf Cottages and The Old Clubhouse Pub & Restaurant, provides visitors with a golf resort experience rivaling the best in the world.

The championship-standard course at Machrihanish Dunes was created by hand in and amongst environmentally protected dunes that couldn't have been better suited for a world-class links golf course. It has been hailed as "the world's next great golf experience" -- and with good reason. The 18-hole seaside layout you'll play here is a pure links course that hearkens back to the 19th-Century origins of links golf and presents challenges unlike any you're liable to have encountered before. It's a course that that has quickly earned a reputation for its majestic beauty -- and its prolific challenges.

[GTS_Award_Logo_Small] When your day of adventure is done, unwind amidst the luxurious confines of the award-winning Ugadale Golf Cottages. These masterfully-designed, two-bedroom cottages overlook the Atlantic Ocean and famous 1st tee at Machrihanish Golf Club. The Ugadale Cottages received Golf Tourism Scotland's Gold Standard Award for the "Hotel of the Year" in the Small Hotel / Guest House category for 2010. The cottages are available for occupancy on a nightly basis and are also being offered for sale according to a number of attractive shared-ownership opportunities.

Next door, The Old Clubhouse Pub & Restaurant (once the original clubhouse for Machrihanish Golf Club) will seduce you with its fine local fare and fine local whisky served in an atmosphere of genuine old-world charm. Warm and welcoming, this classic Scottish pub now serves as a central meeting place for visitors and locals alike. Unwind following your round over a pint or wee dram of single malt paired with skillfully prepared traditional Scottish fare.

Soon to be added to the lineup at The Village at Machrihanish Dunes are two elegantly restored hotels. The historic Ugadale Hotel will begin undergoing its transformation in late 2010, with an eye toward bringing it back to its former glory and opening in August 2011. Upon completion of this grand refurbishment, The Ugadale is planned to feature 23 spectacular guest rooms and suites, along with a steak house and malt whisky bar, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Across the way in neighboring Campbeltown, plans for the restoration of the elegant harbourfront Royal Hotel call for another 23 guest rooms and suites, replete with all the modern comforts one might expect to find in the world's finest hotels. Additionally, The Royal Hotel is planned to include an open-air seafood restaurant with oyster bar and upscale pub.

This is what an authentic Scottish seaside getaway was meant to be. This is The Village at Machrihanish Dunes.
