Today is a very special day especially to those people that are in love but I'm not one of them. As a matter of fact my heart just broke into a million pieces and I felt like some jerk just stomped my heart over and over again not even caring once. I guess that's how you feel when you found out that your boyfriend for 8 months is cheating on you and I just had to found out today. In Valentines Day. He just had to sent a wrong message to my phone and call me Katherine when my name is Demi. Really, how dumb could he be?
"Stupid jerk" I muttered to myself as I ripped his pictures into pieces and threw it to the nearby trash. I'm desperate to get his things out of my apartment; I don't want to see anything that belongs to him or anything that reminds me of him. It's definitely over. At least that's what I'm trying to tell myself. Too bad that's not what my heart is telling me.
Too exhausted from crying, I plopped down to my couch. My mind is everywhere and I couldn't seem to focus on just one thing. The break up shouldn't hurt me that much but I guess it did. I really thought he was the One. Believe me few months ago I was already planning on finally settling in. That's how serious I am with him. I guess everything is not what it seems. Pushing my thoughts away, I suddenly heard a faint knock on my door. My eyebrow knitted together in confusion why would someone visit me today when they can go out and spend the day with their dates? I got up and walked lazily toward the door and through the peephole I saw my Best friend Miley standing there patiently. I unlocked the door and opened it.
"Miley?" I asked utterly confused of her unexpected visit.
She handed me a gallon of ice cream and two DVD's. "You're welcome" She smirked. She opened the door wider and walked in immediately. Her hips swayed to left and right as her long wavy hair bounced around her shoulders.
I closed the door behind me and watched her move gracefully around my small apartment. "Okay remind me again, why are you here?"
She turned around to face me. She pursed her lip into a thin line. "I want to spend time with my best friend is that a crime?" She asked. Deep down inside me I knew there's more to that statement.
I placed the Gallon of ice cream and two DVD's on top of the center table. "No, but its Valentines Day, I thought you and Nick had plans for today?" I asked curiously.
"We did. But I can't seem to have fun knowing my best friend is alone in her apartment moping around because of that Jerk cheating ex -boyfriend of her, I mean seriously what the hell was he thinking? He had the best and he just had to let it go" She rambled continuously.
I sighed. "Look Miles I really appreciate it but I don't want you to cancel your Date with Nick because of me" I answered guilty.
She walked toward me and placed her hand over my shoulder. "Nick understands it. He said we can make other plans tomorrow." She smiled. "And I see him everyday since we are working at the same building, on the other hand I never get to see you more often so please just get over it" She added dramatically.
I sighed defeated. "Thank You" I replied. I am really grateful to have her as my Best friend.
She pulled me into a tight hug "You're welcome, you're the sister I never had and it pains me knowing you're going through a tough time right now" She pulled away from the hug and looked at me sadly. "So how are you holding up?"
"Fine. I managed to throw away his pictures and belongings — So that's a start" I replied.
She smiled. "That's my girl." She pushed me toward the couch and forced me to sit down. "Sit back and relax. I promise you tomorrow, you won't even remember the guy who broke your heart"
"I Hope you're right" I replied hesitantly.
