A heritage train ran on Sunday June 10 from Harrow to Amersham and back. to celebrate the return to traffic and handover to London Underground of locomotive Sarah Siddons following refurbishment by Metronet. The 1921-built Metropolitan
Railway locomotive pulled former Southern Region 4TC unit and diesel Class 20 No. 20227

  • I think the class 20 is powered and required for the braking system on the coaches

  • So is the diesel engine actually switched on? Cos I'm just curious as to what happens to it when it is being pulled by Sarah Siddons and vice versa.

  • No. The 4TC set wasnt an EMU. It was unpowered. Originally designed to be used in push/pull formation with a class 33. The 4TC's can't operate on their own.

  • Hauling some EMUs if I'm not mistaken?
