@Cofton25 ah ok... thanks for reply )

@FFoustt Thats because Chris Norman is no longer the singer in the band, if he was still in the band they would be quite BIG for SURE! The old Smokiesong are just GREAT!
-
@Cofton25 And also most lead singers think they can be as big on their own when in reality they were successful because they were part of a unit (band), Smokie had been together a long time before they had success, in my opinion they were the best as a band

@FFoustt Their biggest era was 75-78.... They were quite big then but the reason why most cannot sustain their success is because they didn't write their big hits, Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman wrote tons of hit records for others (they wrote for Sweet, Quatro, Mud Hot, Chocolate)Writers as always reep the rewards, the singers/bands prob have a 3-5 year shelf life unless they are really special. For me Chris Norman had an amazing stage presence and always looked like he was having a laugh

@FFoustt well mabye they are, and they still play for sold out all over
I don't know why this band is not as popular today as beatles, rolling stones and other bands? they have so many great songs... I have question ... was this band popular back in 70-80s?
