Both Randy and Bernie are great. However, as a musician, Randy dwarfs Bernie in every which way. And I say this truely as a fan of both players.
In the studio Randy dwarfs Bernie, and live he dwarfs Bernie even more, listen to the live Tribute album with Ozzy and Randy as a frame of reference. Anyone truely saying Bernie could out play Randy is deafened by their fandom.

@goatmeat42 and whats the gold album you have on your wall??

He did amazingly well considering. I'm a guitar player of twenty years experience and I would have done a whole lot worse.

@SmittyHeWasNumber1 the are two different platers/ after randy passed ozzy and sharon thought the only person that could fill his shoes right off the bat was pat travers. pat said no way. they got bernie for about five shows while the trained brad gillis and he knew most anyways. thats why its so much brad on speak. it shouldnt have been but what was he going to do. in my mind i would have loved to see pat travers take a go. he is cool.

I hate it when people say "Bernie sucks at Randy's songs" This poor guy had to learn all of the material in a few days and with limited rehersal time. Bernie busted his ass trying to fill the hole left in their hearts from Randy's tragic and untimley death and how do Ozzy's fans repay him? By flipping him off, spitting on him, throwing all sorts of shit at him,and holding up signs saying "RANDY LIVES!!!" I feel so bad for poor Bernie...

@4JayeP A bit over a month actually, then he left and Brad Gillis came onboard.

@goatmeat42 Every song? Ummm Bernie was with Ozzy for only about two weeks.

not only did he fall apart musically, but Ozzy said,he emotionally fell apart also.

Bernie Torme was and is a proper blues rock guitarist. Randy Rhoads like van Halen was a more sterile product of American Rock. Each to their own I say.

Randy Rhoads was way beyond the old unision bends of Bernie and was far from sterile. He was a pioneer and innovator in the field of studio guitar work and created a new approach to metal never seen before.A little of a reference to Blackmore and Uli but way out there!
