I built this burner after some research on the net and even more observing of other burners on YouTube.

  • ALMOST DIED !!!!! Seeing the chuch key left in the lathe chuck.... NEVER do that !!!!!... If the chuck key is not out of the chuck, then NEVER take your hand off it until the job is tight and the key removed... A bloke at my work was killed by a chuck key.... NOT the person operating the lathe, BUT his mate working behind him.... Accidents happen so easily and sorry comes too late..... Best wishes and hope that this warning is accepted with the good intent with which it is given.. Cheers.. Keith

  • @Possumlivingdotcom Wheres the gun/s in this video? You are looking at the wrong genre. You read more into some ones post, than is actually there. You don't know me and how I handle guns, just as I don't know how YOU handle guns. But at least I don't go around accusing people of ignoring gun safety or machine safety. You need to work for Miss Cleo, you claim to know everything about everything.

  • Jesus christ read a post you sent me, you said in your exact words, " Thats like saying its ok to point a gun at random people becauseyou would never pull the trigger". Now tell me you didn't say anything about a gun. Its right there in black and white. Are you on drugs?. In your video of building a generator, you have no safety guard over the belts and pulleys, HHMMM, practice what you preach. And the whole thing is jury rigged. A 14 yr old kid can do a better job, AND have guards on it. DUH

  • @surrynet Nope, I have never left a chuck key in and then turned it on, because I know better than to leave the key in the chuck in the first place.

Who said anything about a gun? I did, that's who. A person who gets offended by simple machine tool safety would probably also ignore gun safety, if he handled a gun.

  • @Possumlivingdotcom I father and I have a lathe and NO-ONE, I MEAN NO-ONE uses it but us, iI mean NO-ONE even touches, leans on it. There is no-one, REAPEAT NO-ONE in our shop but us. When either one of us is using the lathe no-one-I mean NO-ONE in in the same room as the lathe in the shop. Who the hell are you Ralph Naders son. Bet you are still wet behind the ears.

  • @Possumlivingdotcom Are you stupid, NO-ONE I mean NO-ONE turns the lathe on with out stock in it. When the guy puts his stock in it the key is there ready to tighten the stock, THEN HE TAKES THE KEY OUT. I guess DENSE YOU left the key in and with your ignorance you went, "DUH, I GUESS I'LL TURN ON THE LATHE WITHOUT ANY STOCK". WHO THE FUCK SAID ANYTHING ABOUT A FUCKING GUN?.

  • @surrynet Don't be dense. Yes, he remembered to take the key out before he started the lathe. His mistake that he should have never made was leaving it in the chuck in the first place. Please, if you cannot understand this, do not operate machinery.

  • @surrynet That's like saying it's ok to point a gun at random people because you would never pull the trigger.

Never leave the key in the chuck. It is easy to say you won't turn it on without removing the key first, but lots of people have been killed by a thrown chuck key when they or somebody else had a moment of forgetfulness.

  • @greggspen yes, Dad left his key in the chuck so he wouldn't lose it. BUT as you can see and hear, he takes the chuck key OUT and you can hear it hit the table when he drops it down. I have never seen anyone leave the key in chuck and turn the lathe on. Anyone that does that has NO BUSINESS operating a lathe.

  • @surrynet Nah, when he first walks up to the lathe the key is in the chuck. Made that mistake once and had to dig it out of the wall. Still feel lucky I didn't kill someone.

  • @wagarcarey I built one of the Mother Earth burners way back when,They do work great,I use to work in Automotive & used waste oil,it did get a nice blue flame & it sounded like a jet engine. What I liked it no moving parts except an oil flow valve & the hinges on the access door.I used an old water heater for the housing and you did use a cast iron pan a round piece of 1/2" flat stock with many holes in it and a funnel shaped cone over that assembly.I still have the planes somewhere.
