  • So budy? you ever think you could bild a smalle rajustable flame verssion of this burner with a metal Airbrush nozzel ? the air brush is siphon feed,so beter fuel air mix,or for high heat aplication you could use oxigen from a welding tank. Any how piont is smaller faster stronger better. Write me.

  • I've been thinking about a miniature version of this burn for quite sometime now. Have you tried the Airbrush Nozzle as a burner head yet?

  • ALMOST DIED !!!!! Seeing the chuch key left in the lathe chuck.... NEVER do that !!!!!... If the chuck key is not out of the chuck, then NEVER take your hand off it until the job is tight and the key removed... A bloke at my work was killed by a chuck key.... NOT the person operating the lathe, BUT his mate working behind him.... Accidents happen so easily and sorry comes too late..... Best wishes and hope that this warning is accepted with the good intent with which it is given.. Cheers.. Keith

  • @wagarcarey I built one of the Mother Earth burners way back when,They do work great,I use to work in Automotive & used waste oil,it did get a nice blue flame & it sounded like a jet engine. What I liked it no moving parts except an oil flow valve & the hinges on the access door.I used an old water heater for the housing and you did use a cast iron pan a round piece of 1/2" flat stock with many holes in it and a funnel shaped cone over that assembly.I still have the planes somewhere.

  • Thanks for your comment.... LOOK at 1:57..... You see the lathe !!!!.... The chuck key is IN the chuck... One NEVER does that !!!!.... NEVER take your hand off the chuck key unless it is safely stored AWAY from the headstock. IF you accidently knock the START lever 'ON', that key can kill someone.... AS IT DID AT A PLACE THAT I WORKED AT.... A chuck key is a lethal missile if accidently left in the chuck and the lathe rotation swithed on.... Cheers.... Keith

  • @kiwipotter He didn't leave the chuck key in the lathe, he took both keys out. Watch the video again. You can see AND hear him take them out and you can hear the keys hit the lathe bench.

  • that's one way to cook an egg.

  • Mother Earth had a wast oil burner about 30 years ago that used a cast iron fry pan and some high temp insulation. It worked great and was a lot simpler than this but this will get hotter I bet.

  • @kiwipotter We had a guy hurt like that. If the lathe starts that key will leave with great authority.

  • google bagley burner, same thing yet we use steam.

  • @762Nikolai you could heat a garage or shop, use it as a forge heater or kiln heater, or just use it to get rid of your used oil
