Documentary I worked on about Electroconvulsive Therapy.
Shock is a look at one of the most controversial treatments in medical history -- electroconvulsive therapy, also known as ECT or "shock therapy." Through candid and intimate interviews with patients, doctors, and other experts, the film explores the myths, mysteries, and realities surrounding electroconvulsive therapy, a medical procedure used, most effectively, in treating severe clinical depression.

  • Ect saved my life. Today I will have my 5th treatment. Very cool with fantastic results. I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to have these treatments done. Thank you to the team of professionals who are saving me. No torture involved at all, in fact I didn't even know it was done until the nurse told me. A very neat experience that I highly recommend.

  • I am a nursing student and in my clinical today. I had the privledge of watching a ECT perform on my patient. It was so cool. I was painless and seem to help her. She told me that this has been the only thing that has worked for her. Her only complaint about it was how early she had to be at the hospital to get the treatment. As long as the person feeling better that is all that matter.

  • @photo986 80 times normal is bullshit. 3 or 4 times normal produces death.

  • @MenaceTX It's like any mental health treatment - it works great for some, not so well for others. I'm happy that it's working out for you.

  • @MenaceTX You are lying. I am confident of that.

  • Everybody gets depressed lol why are you people frying your brains

  • @MenaceTX

I would like to hear more of your story. I am considering ECT and would like to hear from people first hand. How well did it work? Are you still in remission? What type of follow up treatment do you have.

    Please contact me at nevershankit@yahoo.com

    Thanks

  • i'd rather die than have ect. i

  • I have seen lives saved by ECT. Memory loss is RARE, only seen the first day or so, due to general 'wooziness' from the general anaesthetic. We don't assume that there is permanent memory loss and brain damage when people have been under anaesthetic for having a tooth out. This procedure DOES work and carries little or no side effects. Ask people who have been saved by it, instead of listening to the media's scandalisation of that which offers hope to so many.

  • @JackScheerer ik...i have to do that :(

  • totally know what you mean
