The beautiful village of Vang Vieng in Laos has become a haven for backpackers. Yet the abundance of drugs and cheap liquor results in several lives being lost every year. Has Vang Vieng sold its soul?

I just came back from Vang vieng just today ! Vang vieng is beautiful and people are all so friendly :) I have met a lot of cool travelers i just can't wait to go back any sooner than later !!

i've been in laos for a month now and seen plenty of cunts like this, they've been here for weeks getting pissed every night and can't even say thank you or hello in lao language.. still the reporter is a dumb bitch for filming that guy, he could get chucked in jail for a long time just for selling some bud because of her

The countryside around Van Vieng is beautiful. But the town is full of tourists behaving like idiots who show no respect for Laos culture and think because they're white they can behave anyway they like. Fortunately most of these "tourists" go from a "full moon party" in Thailand straight to Van Vieng then go back again. That's their cultural experience of Laos! If you want the real Lao experience and you like drinking, meet up with some locals and drink rice wine with them they are so friendly
