  • I know that Filas are supposed to be great guard dogs and I've no reason to doubt that they are. But to me they look just like big brown Bloodhounds with sad droopy jowls and ears. A Doberman, a German Shepherd, a Bullmastiff or a Rottweiler are a lot more intimidating to look at.

  • @JackKangaroo1 Jack your right in one sense and not in another. When you see a CAFIB Fila some can look very houndish which is more of the old type of Fila. However when you see a Fila in person and you see the glare that looks could kill, the intensity of which they want to get at you. And the bark which is reverberates and can be heard for long distances. You have a differant change of opinion. I have a Cane Corso and had a shepard that was schutzhund 2.

  • @JackKangaroo1 None of these other dogs get the attn and strike the fear in people like the CAFIB Fila. Until you see the real deal in person. Its a total different experience all together.

  • if that dog did get off and get that guy it would kil him its like gettin attacked by a tiger.

  • @CUINHELL69 And if you can afford a 500$ dog but not a 500 000$-700 000$ house in the rich end of town.... than what? just get broken into and not bother saving a shelter dog to be put to a higher use? thats just an ignorant statement, you obviously have never dealt with hardships....

  • gotta love 'em! I have two filas. they are gentle, warm and fluffy. i wanna hug them all the time. they are the best dogs ever!

  • Dogs trained by amateurs makes for a dangerous dog. Having a Fila is first time I ever felt safe enough to be alone and leave my door unlocked! He was socialized from birth, gentle with tiny children. Great with strangers in public, friendly & great with dogs & sml animals. At home to guard house, Dont mess with. NEVER trained to be aggressive, by nature BEST guard dog ever, & I owned a trained Malinois guard dog. Tail is like a bullwhip. 6'3' on hind legs,260 lbs of muscle. Best dog EVER!

  • @TheMightykaz As an addendum I should add that I took my own dog---a nice sweet Golden Retriever---to the dog park today and met a lady with a ten month old Boerboel. That's a South African mastiff breed used as an all-purpose guardian on farms in South Africa. A very serious looking dog and even at that young age he looked liked something you didn't want to piss off. In the past I've had a Doberman Pinscher and a German Shepherd, both excellent guardians.

  • @TheMightykaz I'm just picturing your stalker breaking into your house at night and coming face to face with your dog. Now that's something I would like to see!! LOL

  • @JackKangaroo1 Well you have to provide extreme socilization with the Fila. I also watch him very closely when visitors come. But he does not lunge and bite anybody that walks by. But as a fila owner I am obligated to have a very high fence and have him restrained at all times when in a public place. The spped and agility of the breed is really something to see. I have also had a stalker for over a year. With this breed I can finally sleep good at night.

  • I wish that one day these dogs will get to rip apart this idiots.

  • @TheMightykaz From what I hear about Filas and how much the hate strangers it sounds to me like owning one is sort of like having a hand grenade on the coffee table.

  • @JackKangaroo1 I have owned pit bulls, rottweilers, german shepherds. I currently have a Rhodesian Ridgeback, dogo argentino and a 9 month old male Fila. The Fila is very intimidating if not more intimidating than the Dogo Argentino. I have had several people comment on how scary and loud his bark can be. It is different than the barks of the dogo or rotts i have owned. It is a sound of pure hatred. It is hard to explain. The dogo is no joke either. Both very loyal.
