My skills of 9-section whip were taught by my sifu Jiang Zuoshan bacisally. Later on I met Whip-king Huang (so-called locally) and learned quite many from him. He is the best one as I have ever seen. Assimilating the typical uses with 44 forms, I arranged this set several years ago. It belongs to moderate level. My web: www.01248.cn/jiping

  • were are u in the video? looks like an amazing place to hang out :D great video keep up

  • its a 13 section.. ;P

  • was that supposed to be a racist comment?

  • It wouldn't likely be bladed. Every one of them that I've used or seen has head that's just slightly more massive than the bars that make up the rest of the weapon's length. A fair amount of the techniques require catching the whip at or near it's head to stall it temporarily. As a side note, the flags are usually placed a little behind the head for performance and practice. Without them, the movement of the whip is almost invisible.

  • maybe cuz he's too short. lawls.

  • wow, lots of great traditional moves!!!

but isnt that chainwhip kinda too long?

  • oh, never heard of the blade in the tassel, sounds a bit like a kyoketsu shogei, it make sense though.

  • from what I understand of the form the tip of the whip was the most effective part. In the strips of cloth there is a blade or hook-like tip that cuts the opponent. The whip is effective in that a master of the form uses speed changeups to keep the opponent guessing and at a distance.

  • nice form, kinda like the traditional shaolin form I'm learning. thats a nice move used between 2:05-2:09. I've always wondered how the chain would be used in combat; keep turning it idly at the side and then lash out, or continuously do moves with it...

  • 13 sections! thats cool looking.
