i'm sorry but I completely disagree that the lead needs to be sung by a black person. This song can be sung by anyone with the vocal capability of range. This song's lead range is spectacular, and anyone that can pull off the falcetto and chest voice parts has stellar talent. And, as vocalists always say, better sharp than flat.

hmmmm....vocally, pretty good, though he goes sharp on the last note. stage presence was lacking from all though. it looked more like a jam session among s few friends rather than a performance; it was more a guy singing a tune instead of a character telling his story. and what's with starting out all reverent and then going all thug? some things didn't match up that could have been fixed by some better staging and--more especially--directing.

Good job, not an easy song at all. As to marabout, I can almost guarantee you couldn't do any better. Before giving harsh commentary on someone, realize the circumstances. I think for such a difficult song he did outstanding.

Despite the sound quality, great performance. I like the set and lighting design as well. As for the wardrobe choices...well you can't win them all...
