  • That is not a EMD unit.

  • Uhh yes it is, all F40's were made by EMD

  • Mahar Highway?

  • yes

  • The gates were working fine. The gates only went back up because it detected the train stopped after it entered the circuit. Did anyone notice the train came with the gates down? Gates only come down TWENTY SECONDS before the train occupies the crossing!

  • Thanks John! And let me add on to this, when the gates went down, there was an inbound train from Middleboro (it goes through a different set of crossings) heading into Boston at the same time, my guess is the train that was going to Kingston had to wait for the inbound to come through before it could cross-over to the other branch.

  • I like the double-level cars of the trains. They're so roomy inside. I'm always in one of the double-level cars of most MBTA commuter rail trains when I go inbound from Stoughton to Hyde Park.

  • Omg. I died laughing when you said 'What the hell?'

  • I work with crossings like these and have seen the same thing happen. If the highly sensitive train detection circuits aren't tuned just right it can get confused when a train enters the signal block. The crossing then realizes the train is still far away and recovers until the train is near. This is a good heads up for railfans to get their cameras ready!!

  • Nope those are knock off units made by Morrison-Knudsen. Look at the front window on the side of the locomotive it is rectangle while EMD's have an slight angle to match the front slope.

  • u hav a thick accent

  • Yeah most of the time on that line, you can expect a double decker car
