Imagine how excited all of those dancers must've been to be on stage with one of the all time greats of musical theatre. Amazing!
-
When Alan Cummings says "(sigh)... and gentlemen", he reminds me of Umbridge from A Very Potter Sequel!
-
Perhaps not in this performance but when you watch the actual show with Alan in it I think he is just as sinister and ethereal, sort of playing God if you will. Joel was amazing and Alan was amazing, both performers of immeasurable talent.

@Everywhere2 I completely agree, Alan is good, but there's something sinfully sinister about the way Joel plays it that's just magical. It's like he's a demon, playing a broadway star, playing a "demon". Especially his laugh; omg his crazy awesome laugh!

@Tdemon I'm with you. Joel Grey didn't really make it sexy like Alan Cumming (and every emcee after that) did. He just made him a little unusual. I'm not saying that the new way that they play the emcee is bad. It's still great!

Love Alan, but Joel got it so right there's no getting it better. Joel's Emcee was nearly supernatural - a creepy little mortal disguise for a horrifying demon who burns through the centuries (and who's so glad to see *you*). Alan's Emcee's mortal and markedly modern.
-
lol I thought Alan stole Joel's cane at the end xD

Awesome!

@noodle0912 Haha, me too.
They're both just awesome. :)

Speechless...Joel is legend! And Cumming did such a good job, it's rare to have somebody recreate an iconic figure with a greatness like he did.

Joel Grey played a shocking roll for his time. My Grandmother looks back at that and still considers it overly sexual. However, I look at it and think it's pretty mellow on the sexual themes. In order for it to continue to shock audience and emphasize the seediness of the Kit Kat Klub, it had to change for the new times. I'm sure Alan looks back to Joel and thinks he's amazing and I'm sure Joel is grateful to Alan for keeping the play going.

I don't think I've cried infront of a computer before- the magic just ooze's through the screen. THIS is what Cabaret is all about <3
