(Justin's POV)
I had gone to the bathroom one morning for a couple minutes. When I came back, I heard Elena and Jackie talking quietly and I decided not to interrupt them, but to listen.
"Hey Elena," Jackie said.
"Hey. How are you feeling?"
"Great... Just one thing." Jackie hesitated.
"Yes?"
"How did I end up in the hospital?"
Elena sighed but gave her a shy smile. "I think you should ask Justin that question."

My heart sank. I knew sooner or later that I was going to have to tell her what happened, but I kind of hoped it would have been later. I really want Jackie to remember, but at the same time, her not remembering everything makes everything a little easier for me. Sounds mean, but its true. I walked in the room and they both turned to look at me.
"Oh... hey Justin. We were just talking about you," Elena said, giving me a look.
"Hey guys!" I pretended I didn't know what she meant. "What's up?"
"The doctor said I could leave today," Jackie replied.
"Really? That's great!" Elena and I both exclaimed at the same time.
"But... he doesn't know when I'll get my memory back, or if I ever will."
"I'm sorry to hear that, Jackie. But, just have hope," Elena reassured her.
"Yeah. I guess. Can I speak to Justin alone please?
"Okay, sure." Elena left the room.

An awkward silence filled the room for a couple seconds. Jackie stared at the wall, while I sat down a bit my nails. I knew exactly what she wanted to talk about, and I wasn't ready for it. I would never be. She finally broke the silence. " So, I wanted to ask you something."
"Anything," I said. Here comes the worst.
"Um... how exactly did I end up here?"
"What do you mean?" I asked, still playing dumb.
"You know... in the hospital. What exactly happened to me?"
"Um.. . Well..." I began, searching for words.
"Justin! Justin, where are you?" I heard someone call. "Oh, Justin, THERE you are!" Eva walked in.
Saved by the bell, I thought. I sighed , pretending to be annoyed. "What?"
"Well! No need to be rude. Your mom needs you outside."
"Oh... Jackie, we'll talk later." I sighed again and smiled to myself on my way out.

I walked down the long hallway of the hospital, passing many doctors and patients. I couldn't find my mother anywhere... I wonder who had told Eva that she needed me. I was about to head back when I felt a cold hand fly on my mouth, and I was being pulled into a nearby closet. For a second a couldn't see or hear anything. I began to struggle, when the light suddenly turned on. I closed my eyes, and prepared for the worst.
"Dude, why are your eyes closed?"
I knew that voice. I've heard it almost every single day of my life. It was...Ryan?!
"Ryan! What the hell! You scared me. What do you want?'
"Sorry... I just wanted to talk to you without anyone around."
"What the hell is wrong with you? Let go of me!" He let go, and I straitened my clothes.
"I have something to tell you. There's some trouble at school with Sophia," he whispered.
