In addition this solution seems to be very scalable with the added advantage (in many cases) of using existing routers that require only a software update.

  • Not an easy question to answer. It depends on the application. For example streaming video could tolerate a large amount of latency and jitter. Buffering can take care of this. It should however, have very low data loss. Voice over IP (VoIP) on the other hand should have no more than 150ms one way delay, very low jitter and very low data loss in both directions.
