I live a block away from Gibsonton. There are still lots of carnies here, but you only run into the sideshow folks once in a great while.

I have a CUSTOM MADE ICE CREAM truck and I've gone to GIBTOWN for the last 34 yrs. and we love it. We even have a home there now. The new Super Walmart is right up the street. GREAT PEOPLE GREAT TIMES.

I've had the pleasure to work with some of the "human oddities" of the past. They were some of the finest and most gentle and generous people whom I have ever known.
It's a real shame that they have been relegated to "used to be".

Very true Scott. I had the pleasure of meeting several of the oldtime sideshow performers myself, like Melvin "The Human Blockhead" Burkhart and Otis the Frogboy (who had no arms or legs but had mastered amazing skills such as rolling cigarettes with just his lips). This was many years ago though, and these two gentlemen, like most of the other oldtimers, have since passed on.
