Juni-Ippo kata (12 step kata) is a very basic form. Systems that teach it, tend to teach it as the first form before the pinons, or nai han chi. It can be practiced many ways. The chudan uke's are interchangable with any of the other hard blocks taught in karate, or kempo. It is generally taught with a middle block, upward block, and a downward block. So there would be three forms if done this way. Juni-Ippo shodan, nidan, and sandan. You can also add kicks in place of half-mooning forward or backward. It teaches both the reverse, and lunge punch. There are other methods of practicing the form not demonstrated here, and many principles inbedded in the form. I'll cover bunkai another time. The kata was created by Chibana Chosen.
