???
This is a nice cover, but it doesn't come close to the original. Jerry's is just okay.
The original Watchtower is a hell of a song, and it's not really true that Jimi's blows it out of the water.

Absolutely magical .... Dylan's words....and Marianne's voice/interpretation......

This is terrific interpretation of one of the greatest songs of the second half of the twentieth century. I have to believe that this performance could only come from someone who truly understood this tune. She sings it with an measure of empathy for the song, and a measure of authority that could only have been earned the hard way. It's the only interpretation of the original I've been able to listen to over and over again.

Simple and gorgeous.
just WOW.

Who plays the guitar so responsivly?
Guitar and voice cooperation is so good, it gives a magic suggestive impact,
so I have to play it over and over.

She does justice to this great Bob Dylan song. I am a true dylan fan and i cant stand most of the covers but this one is decent and independently good.

@chetmobileful I'm not here to educate you. You have to educate yourself, and that takes an enormous effort and much time. I'm sorry you can't appreciate the poetic verse. I couldn't, quite frankly, appreciate Dylan for quite some time. But after years of reading and exposure to art beyond the two-dimensional, you begin to aquire an appreciation for things that are less obvious..less perfect. And in that obfuscation you find a meaning and beauty that is more profound than the conventional.
"And Louise holds a handful of rain, tempting you to defy it....." Unbelievable.

71 her spotlight year alright.. and despite many verses omitted she became the first artist in 5 years to cover it on a studio album. Few peers would even know how to approach such riddle and cryptic metaphor galore.
"and Madonna she still hasn't showed, we see the empty cage now corrode where her cape from the stage once had flowed, the fiddler he now steps to the road and writes everything's been returned which was owed, on the back of the fish truck that loads while my conscience explodes"
