On the morning of February 09, 2010 at 10:30 Pacific Time the Olympic Flame came to the Royal City, New Westminster, British Columbia. The Flame started out at the East end of Royal Avenue running west to find its way in front of city hall. There it was welcomed by a cannon salute to celebrated (the best part) the big event. From there the Flame headed north, up Sixth, to Uptown New Westminster, sixth & sixth, then east over to Queens park, then down to Columbia and third, west on Columbia, to the Quay via Bigbie where it hitched a ride on a paddle wheeler over to Queensbrough and then off to Richmond.
This footage was taken downtown, corner of sixth & Columbia, as the Olympic Flame came down Columbia Street heading for Bigbie to find its way to the New Westminster Quay to then board the paddle boat. To do my best to shorten this clip i packed picture in picture with the footage i had accumulated. First with the Royal Bank & Coke Parade Floats, then the RCMP Escort, and then the Flame Runner, both on Columbia and Bigbie.
Thank you for your comment Kata!
The great joy was in seeing all the happy faces on my morning walk. The wonderful warm sunshine, as we are having a very early spring this year, reflecting in all the happy faces, from 4 to 94.
