well, since you used some of the most recent skaters out there, I also think you could have put in Sasha with the others. And not to mention, Alissa too.
i believe you...i always thought as a young man that...figure skating was won by the women with the best figure..?!...that is really why i watched..!!..perverse huh..!!..at the same time i hope that the more difficult performances and executions were / are rewarded by medal placements..
@etornel79 Actually, I could be wrong about the short program, come to think of it. Nowadays, it's known more of a technical program than artistic. However, I do know that the figures were eliminated in 1990. Before then, a skater could possibly win a competition, even if they didn't have a good "free skate" if they did well in the figures portion. The opposite could also happen, as those figure scores were valued around 20% of the overall score.
@etornel79 Yeah. The "figures" were eliminated from competition in 1990. However, a few rinks still offer figures as part of their local competitions. I would personally love to do some figures myself. Nowadays, in place of figures, there's the "short" program for major competitions and various skill level testing requirements for skaters to take as they move up the ranks in the skating world.
That's a nice job, well done. The second one is Peggy Flaming, isn't she? I like her sixties style..:-) I loved Irina's performance at the 2005 Worlds, gorgeous come back after a hard period in her life. I like both Mao and Yuna, the best I have ever seen is for sure Yuna.
What about Midori Ito? Fantastic 1988 Olympics Free and 1989 Worlds?
