Of course the "cores" are metal. I believe there is 4 types of music: hip hop, country, rock, and metal. Everything else is just branches off them and for those of you whom are anal jackoffs, you're giving music a bad name and it's fucking annoying. Do you know how many times I've heard stuff like "It isn't metal, it's thrash METAL"? Kill yourselves
