John Adames in John Cassavetes' "Gloria" (1980)

Can't believe this little guy was nominated for a Worst Supporting Actor Razzie for his performance in this film (the one and only movie in which he appeared). He should have won the OSCAR for BEST Supporting Actor (and his co-star, Gena Rowlands, should have won Best Actress). Does anyone know where John Adames is now? I was shocked when I heard he was given a bad actor prize.This kid was great.Gena was,and is one of the best. I guess many people are fools or somthing. Again,i thought this kid was great. They said night of the hunter was shit also. What do they know about art? Great movie!!!!!

just watch again on Crackle,, and was searching John's where abouts...I agree, Gena should have gotten the award that year,, and He was wonderful. Who else could have played it so well, and convincing.....And when he realizes its her in the end scene, that was amazing....

This is one of the most prolific artistic performances of the 20th century. John Adames performance as 'Phil' moves me to tears everytime I watch this film. The panel for the 1980's Razzie awards should be brought to justice and held responsible for ruining the career of one of America's finest players.

I think this kid was adorable, he's the only reason I finished watching the film. I can't believe some people think he wasn't cute.

I finally saw "Gloria" and for years heard the phrase "Gena is Gloria"--and I totally agree!!! Gena should have gotten the award and John Adames is so realistic--what were the Razzies thinking....This little guy had it down and it wasn't acting--it was so realistic--I guess he just wasn't cute enough or said those cutesy things. The last shot is great, and these two are a great pair...

This kid was absolutely great. I couldn't find any information about this kid after this movie. It would be a shame if he ended his career because of this. When I see one dimensional actors such as Tim Cruise, get so many accolades you can tell that it is not about talent.

@ed7hanke: thanks for sharing. I agree with all of you. What a mistake have given that "award" to this Actor. He did an extraordinary performance in Gloria, moved me to tears and I'm surprised how he could keep the sad, tough and worried face through the movie and the marvelous smile at the restaurant and of course, at the end scene, meeting Gloria!!! He was a little kid then but A GREAT ACTOR INDEED!!! I wish I could see him again in movies!!!! Congrats, John!!! from Monterrey, Mexico.

on those days children playing on movie were supposed to be cute and beautiful. this kid is neither.In fact he is annoying . Its very easy to understand why Gloria is not that  happy to take care of him on start,

but then she is also quite a tough cocky and very edgy not really the sweet motherly tip. But that the whole point!!! and that why the twist is so amazing!!! great piece of art

Clearly the razzies r retarded for giving this kid a nomination. i mean ok he over acted n was quite annoying through out the entire film but if u really look at it thats how kids really are so how could they say he is a bad actor when he convinced me n pretty much everyone who watched this? this kid was great. he shoulda gotten more acting jobs and maybe he would have gotten a solid acting career by now.
