Maybe this difference is because "L" and "R" sounds in Japanese sound very similar to one another, and probably because the translators didn't want people to confuse Lalah Sune with Lara Croft.

Kind of like Lacus Clyne from Gundam Seed is transliterated as "Rakusu" from the Japanese.
