  • One of my favorite 10' 6" steelhead rods broke about 1 1/2 ft from the top. I've been trying to find a dealer to fix it but there is no one around here. The pole broke right off (no where near a guide) Do u think this method of repair would work for this type of break? I really don't want to move my guide, and the rod was repaired by some dip shit at a sporting goods shop about 10 years ago and last wkend just fell apart .

  • hmm. I dont think it will. It might take a bit more than work, what is the pole made of?

  • what is guriala glue? i dnt think thy have it in the uk anyway my crack is nowhere near an eyehole but would this still work? and what did u use just nylon thread and glue? ill try.

  • That type of glue is much like super glue but more ridgid. In any case, try using small pieces of metal ( example: the metal clip on a ballpoint pen) any piece of small gauge metal should do. Bend the pieces of metal to fit the contour of the part of the fishing pole. Then follow the rest of the instructions in the video. :)

  • what if my pole has a crack length ways?

  • thats an interesting question, im not sure how that could happen but never the less. i suppose you wouldapply a thin coat of appoxy down the length of the rod and clamp it tight then go from there.

  • @rrssmith just saying americans r retarded

  • @ItsReelFishing ..get a life ass wipe

  • stupid americans its not a pole its a rod a pole does'nt use a reel and u dont cast out with it

  • @BELLDOGG2 i did the same thing, thought of a great repair, but you need an old rod you dont use anymore.

i used tube cutters to cut out a section of the old rod (the section has to be slightly smaller than the broken section of the rod to be repaired) and inserted them into the broken rod, making sure to really jam it inside so its a snug fit.you might need to trim the tips shorter as you go to make it fit perfectly. then, tape it with a strong fibrous tape,i used hockey tape, wrap fuckin tight

  • not that you duumy

  • Get a real good rod and its all covered under warranty.

  • @FishNFoolLures

where is your video then smarty-pants?

  • Silverstein in the background :D

  • The second method is to use a carbon fibre material. Use a stint as in the first method. Make sure after the stint is inserted add epoxy to the break. Let it set til it gets sticky then wrap the carbon fibre around 2 or 3 times depending how big the rod blank is. Add a coat of epoxy then put heat shrink tape around the area and let stand for 8 hours. Sand ,then paint.
