A recording done by a very early Led Zeppelin for a Pj Proby album, to test their skills in the studio before recording their own epic debut album. The song features our favourite guitarist, Jimmy Page, playing some very fine Blues guitar indeed.

The photos are of a young Jimmy Page in the '60s. Sorry, when I saw the name "Jim" in the song title, I thought it meant Jimmy Page. It's actually PJ Proby's real name.

  • You guys realize this sounds a lot like You Shook Me? I think it's the same exact bass line. The drums aren't far off, either, nor is the harmonica. Am I the only one to realize this? But really it's not surprising, because prior comments say this is EARLY Zep, and You Shook Me was released on Led Zeppelin I.

  • Bonham sounds really good with blues.. I love led zepeplin but i just wish they play more blues

  • @ttoale it does, but it is a simple blues bassline. it probably sounds like a lot of songs

  • @Tecumseh1812 i don't know if his personality would have matched with the band, or if they would have ever reached their "godlike" status with a 5'4" little guy like steve.

but don't get me wrong it gives me chills just to think about it.

i think part of the magic of LZ though is that it was only page on guitar, instead of like... robert playing rhythm.

  • I came across this song the other night while driving home. I was just flippin stations when I just gave up and left it on this song. As I was listening, I sensed something powerful in the music. I KNEW this music.Listen closely, you will hear hints of every song the group would be making in the future BUT even the group had no idea that each chord they played were pieces of their future hits. It was an eerie feeling. Then......It hit me; THIS IS ACTUAL RECORDING OF THE BIRTH OF LED ZEPPELIN.

  • @Patrishaify it would be jones as well, you can record more than one track ya know

  • I've spent half of the song with jaw drop. This turns me on

  • i've a question: if there are bonham, jones, jimmy and robert who's playing the piano???

  • @PsychedelicDrummer93 i agree. but listen to i can't quit you baby and enjoy some awesome blues rock (whatever that means)

  • The New Yardbirds and were sent a an order to stop using the name.

  • @Tecumseh1812 who's on the voice?!

  • I think Steve Marriott is the only other vocalist beside Plant who would have been acceptable for the Zep.
