"Hashiramoto-Goma" is a religious ritual handed down from generation to generation among "Yamabushi" (a Buddhist priest who trains himself by enduring ascetic practices in the mountains) who belong to Shogo-in temple, Kyoto.
Yamabushi burns some pieces of wood piled up on the Buddhist altar to pray for spiritual purification and good fortune of people.
