If I bought the 500D just some weeks ago I would feel the same...
..erm, I am german, so it is not sooooo funny to understand the spoken words and read the subtitles at the same time.

7D is weather sealed,shoots 8fps, min shutter speed of 1/8000, but 550D does look a good buy.

if your on a budget get the 550 and a really good lens! a 50mm f1.8 prime would get you fantastic shots. if you have more money 17-55 f2.8 IS is a fantastic versatile fast lens. if money is no object... get a 5dm2 when firmware comes out! :)

I should also have added hitler saying "and i bet the 550d will have a different battery to the 7d", consumer means SD.. so that means your SD, batteries... basically everything is incompatible from previous models :) (except lenses of course) so for us that want to use 550d as a second camera to 7d/5dmk2, that means we have to buy more different batteries, carry round 2 battery chargers, we cant even interchange media.
