On October 02, 2010 at the Canadian Navy Centennial closing ceremony in Port Moody BC, Conservative MP James Moore (Port Moody-Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam) recalled the meeting he had with David Lloyd Johnston at 7 Rideau Gate and Prime Minister Steven Harper in Ottawa, ON the day Johnston was to sworn-in as the 28th Governor General of Canada. Moore spoke of what he described as a very special moment when he was right by Johnston's side when a hand-written letter (letters patent?) from Queen Elizabeth II of England was being delivered to the newly-appointed governor general moments after the official sworn-in ceremony had taken place at the Senate Room in Parliament Hill.

Johnston was recommended by Prime Minister Harper to succeed Michaelle Jean who is leaving office to take on a new role as UNESCO's special envoy to her native Haiti after five years of exemplary service of being the 27th Governor General from Sep 2005 to Oct 2010.

  • David Lloyd Johnston is a political appointee, not a real ruler.
