I Got My Gmail

The story how this animated music video got featured on Gmail's login page...

This started as a swap on gmailswap.com where I wrote and performed a song in exchange for a gmail account. (This is when gmail just started and accounts were harder to get). In exchange for a gmail account I would a write and record a song in the choice of the person's style and tempo. Oh, and their name in the song too.

A person took my swap: alt. rock @ 130 bpm. It came out great so I modified the words to be more general. I sent to google and they wrote back telling they loved it, even asked for the lyrics.

Then my friend Amanda at pandaproductions.com made this cool Sims2 machinima out of the song. I sent it along to my new friend at google.

Then on US Thanksgiving, Gmail featured the video on the Gmail login page which put the video on to Google's most viewed video list! So here you go: an original machinima music video!

just read the explanation of how song/video got made and I have much more respect for the work and for you. Good job and disregard my previous comment (except I still like the song more than the video, so I like your part better though the video facilitated everybody seeing it online). Good work.

I like the song - creative, even if hard to understand. I still don't like the Sims animation - too limited, especially when trying to sinc up a music track with their on-stage actions. Plus what's with the woman lookng like a gorilla in front of her computer?
