A 1959 Zenith "Extended Stereo" Console is repaired and modified to give pure unprocessed 2-channel sound rather than processed "enhanced" stereo. This is my first effort at vacuum tube audio restoration and it sounds really nice. The video is my entry in the TubeDepot.com Tube Project Video Contest. Please take a look... if you like it please post a rating for the contest before 8/15/09! Thanks, Jeff
Sounds great. I like the way you left the original parts in place to make an original restoration easier. The "enhanced stereo" feature seems similar to the "stereo wide" and "ambient stereo" switches on early '80s boomboxes. It would be nice to have the control in place, but a clear neural setting with the intended separation. It looks as if this predates FM stereo, but I assume Frank is coming off a record.

Good job Jeff, glad to see someone restoring the old sound! I'll bet AC DC would sound great on that bad boy!

Jeff,
Awesome job on the Zenith mod. I'll bet it sounds great! Nothing like the warm, smooth sound of tubes!!

Thanks for the FYI vid, very facinating indeed.
I've been interested in finding a nice OLD Zenith console someday. This makes me want one even more now.
