Nathan's CI Activation... we are so pleased with the results. He has auditory neuropathy and received his implant at 33 months old. He not only hears, but he UNDERSTANDS what he hears now... At just 2 years post-implant!

  • Hey, just wanted to sat congratulations on the success Nathan is experiencing. My 3 y.o. son was implanted bilaterally almost a month ago. We are anxiously awaiting his activation day. Also don't let these cowards get to you. People who post such crap like hailmeg83 are just pathetic cowards who think they can post whatever they want and not be held accountable. Funny thing is many people of the Deaf community use hearing aides... and that is somehow acceptable while CI's aren't.

  • @oregonfan03

Thanks for the note - and good luck on your new CI!!! I'll be looking for a video!!

  • My son was implanted in May and has only been switched in since June. He is now only 18 months old and has come on in leaps and bounds. The negative comments below disgust me. If someone has sight loss, they wouldn't be commented on for getting stronger glasses so what is the difference. Ignore the lot of them.

  • i think i was as fascinated at that toy as nathan was. sweet toy.

  • @ScolioGirl44 It's not about changing their kids, It's not about ''fixing'' them.

Parents simply want to give their child all safety they can give and all opportunities they can offer.

Hearing sounds is not just convenient it's one of our senses for our own protection. to hear sounds that indicate danger.

Also it's true people can have good lives while being deaf but parents want to offer their children everything they can. now if the child later chooses to be deaf he can simply turn it off

  • That is so sad. Why fix something if it's not broken? Deafness is not a handicap. It's so sad that parents want to change their kids instead of accepting them!

  • ....and then there was sound!

Congrats! Can I have that toy??

  • @oregonfan03 I think the difference is that they view CIs as an attempt to fix what they don't see as broken. HAs are a helper, not a fix. It's a fine line. I think the other contention is parents who implaint young children- thinking the child should have the choice but it becomes a catch-22. Implants need to be done early in life for proper verbal language development. Not justifying any of the thinking, just offering a potential explanation. :-) How is your son doing now? Well I hope!

  • @hallmeg83 you are discusting. This is a beautiful miracle and you are too insecure with yourself to be happy for someone else.

  • CYBORG BABY'S ARE GOING TO TAKE OVER!
