Socialism is an economic and political theory advocating public or common ownership and cooperative management of the means of production and allocation of resources. Could that be the answer to bring America out of its economic trouble? Is America headed towards socialism? Is it really that big bad wolf people make it out to be? RT's Cedric Moon hosts a panel of Nicki Kurokawa and Michael Prysner where they debate the pros and cons of socialism in America.

  • Free market works only under the assumption that consumers have the freedom to choose an unlimited amount of products and services. However, the reality is when companies manipulate the supply and demand of these products, they control the cost and hold the consumer hostage to necessities such as oil costs, gas, healthcare, etc.

  • i here how would you feel if you were a brain surgeon making as much money as a janitor when i bring this subject up and i simply reply how do you feel now busting your balls 40+ hours a week working and some guy who just closed a factory and fired half a million people made more money in that hour of work than you'll ever see in your life

  • Theres different types of socialism. Democratic socialism is about creating equal apportunity for all. And apportunity is not a in double quotes like it is with capitalism. And there can be private business ownership and personal wealth, the point is people (as in majority of pop) will decide how to distribute that wealth.

  • Ok for 1.. How can a political party be scary?? All the parties that are there are obviously there for our needs so none should be scary.. Unless ur just weird like that.. Socialism is not scary nor evil.. I would say republican is evil more than any...

  • i think socialism is scary and im middle to low class cuz it is the staple of communism and unlike some people i accepet im not rich but im not ganna take from others a nd pull them down like a leach and what if one of us did become rich thats not ganna happen in socialism

  • @sisque16 Until someone offers the same service at a slightly lower price...Then they steal the entire market and other companies backlash with a price war which benefits consumers. This is capitalism.

  • True. I would also add if two companies are competing against each other, both will be reluctant to drop the price if they control the demand. Try to shop for some tires and call around, what you notice is that the rates are high but close together...look at the gas prices riven now hovering around 4/ gal

  • @sisque16 and when the consumer goes to another competitive company for their cheaper and more competitive prices then the other companies will be screwed and go out of business. problem solved.

  • ....young beautiful dutch women walk into my office everyday no more than 26 yrs old using forearm brace crutches. I ask them why they use them its the same thing everytime," i was young and they wouldn't operate." be careful what you wish for... Now with that said...i believe crony capitalism is wrong too. that's our current model...we need less gov't, less tax and regulation on small business, and a true free market.....and manufacturing jobs and skilled labor
