Thomsons web site - http://www.captainfiddle.com Excerpts from a traditional New England contra dance in Medway, Massachusetts. This is a monthly dance which takes place in the Christ Episcopal Church on Saturday nights. On this occasion the Fiddling Thomsons, Ryan and his 13 year old son Brennish, are fiddling (Brennish also plays french canadian wooden spoons). Keyboard accompaniment is by pianist Deborah Gerstein, and the dance is called by Tony Parks. The musical ensemble tonight is a subset of the band "Smoke and Mirrors." In the first segment the band plays a West Virginia tune - "West Fork Gals." Next is the dance "Chorus Jig" with the tune of the same name, Brennish playing french canadian wooden spoons. Next is the tune "Farewell to Whiskey." Next is the irish jig "Handsome Young Maids." played for the dance - "Happily Ever After," and last is the tune "Shenandoa Falls," played for the dance - "Jubilation," by Gene Hubert.
Thanks for that information. We had fun playing for the dancers!

(The first dance sequence is "Weave the Line" by Kathy Anderson"; the third is the original version of "CDS Reel" by Ted Sannella.)
