Try this then: connect the power saver and disconnect the motors and measure the current. Now explain why the power saver on it's own is drawing about 1/2 and amp of current. An amp meter on it's own doesn't tell the whole story when measuring AC power and your utility meter doesn't measure just amps. Sorry mate but your been conn'd.
