One of my personal favorite Big Black songs. I've always felt that this song was drastically underrated. It's too bad Big Black never wrote more melodic songs like this (the only other one that comes to mind is "Bad Houses" off "Atomizer").

*Fun Fact* I'm pretty sure that Mark Arm (guitarist and vocalist for the lovely grunge band Mudhoney) can be spotted in the photo of the band. He's the last distinguishable person towards the upper left-hand corner of the picture. He was a confirmed audience member at this show, and the guy looks exactly like him.

  • I totally agree with your assessment of this song. IMO their most beautiful , brooding track. Drum track is strangely hypnotic, oddly timed, and works so well.

  • Who ever thought that a harmonic percolator pedal could sound so beautiful?

  • That definitely is Mark Arm. The photo was taken by Charles Peterson and was featured in his book 'Screaming Life'.

  • Thanks a lot. I figured it had to be.

  • As far as last songs on last albums go, this takes the crown. "Man's gotta have someone to hate, guess I'll do. And when I'm through with myself, I'll start on you."

  • @billybod72 Then you have not the ears to listen, nor the mind to comprehend.

  • @billybod72 are you some kind of dumbass?

  • i have know idea what everyone is talking about, but this is the gayest music i have ever heard, this sucks worse then radiohead!!!!!

  • @Spiritu39 WHoah..........the person on the cover is a guy???

  • I can't explain why this song has stayed with me over the years, nor why it appealed to me so much more than any other Big Black song. But it was, and still is, my favorite.

  • I started out hating and stayed that way

  • This song creates cracks in time. It links my thinking as an adolescent in the 80s with my adult thinking in the 90s and again with my middle aged thinking in the 2000s. The older I get, the more meaningful this song becomes to me.
