This is one of my favorites from Counterparts, which happens to be one of my all-time favorite albums. I was born in the Counterparts era, so that makes the album all the more special for me. *Grin*
"Animate" looks at the issue of gender, a man who must find a balance between his masculinity and his femininity. The album deals with this as well as relationships, the counterparts being a man and a woman. I love the quote in the beginning: "Behind every successful man is a woman." There is a lot of truth in that.
I have the feeling that the Rush guys wouldn't be the men and musicians they are without the love and support of their wives. Behind Geddy, Alex and Neil are Nancy, Charlene, Jackie and Carrie. Very lucky women, I daresay.
