The Mandelbrot Fractal is a metaphor for understanding God

A section of a talk at London's Swedenborg hall 3rd October 2007. I discuss the Mandelbrot set as a way of helping us to understand the illusory nature of reality and the concept of mathematical or platonic existence. I also discuss how it allows us to understand what is enlightenment or transcendence and how it is that everything is consciousness and or the ontological position of Idealism. How it is that Everyone is God and all existence is one undivided indivisible unity.

i feel that i should have been died many a times..from cars crashes, vending machines falling on me, MRSA and many more. Can we die to self?..MY GOD is everything and everything in it's self. Are we looking out or is it GOD looking in?..do you feel like your one thing??...when really, your billions and trillions of little conscience things. (cells)

The universe is an illusion as he says because it doesn't exist, at least not the way you think. The only thing that exists is CONSCIOUSNESS. The whole world you think is "out there" is actually IN your consciousness.  The universe that appears to be "out there" isn't out there at all. There is no blue, no middle C, no hot and cold, no matter, no time, but in your consciousness. Read the Shiva Sutras.

the mandlebrot set is the final nail in the coffin for religion. god isn't necessary to explain the complexity of the universe, it arises naturally from physical law. like Z=Z^2+C

Logos means "logic". In the beginning, God had the Logic. The analogy with math is exactly what Plato said. The Hindus call it Nada or Spanda: vibrations. Anyway, it's pointless trying to explain it. Jnana bhanda: knowledge of the Maya is bondage. Nice job though. Thanks for your efforts.

I don't understand why we have to conclude that the Universe is an illusion, only based on the fact that the Universe is a fractal. I submit that the physical plane is exactly what we think it is, physical and it is also a fractal. There is also the Mental Plane which is also a Fractal and the Spiritual Plane, also a Fractal.
