Being pedantic, but this was a run of 121. Too bad Johnny missed, but ironically, it's the one shot selection I disagree with in this run - he didn't need to cut that one down the rail at this angle, but could easily have gone e.g. 7, 4, 13, 12, 11 instead, leaving the 15 as his break just the same. Be that as it may, thanks so much for uploading this, so instructive! Cheers man!

Archer shot the stripe on the rail first to save the other 2 stripes later to leave as a break shot. I do not agree with you that he should have shot the 7 first as he would shooting over a ball . I think he could have shot the other nearby stripe into the corner, cue ball bounce off the bottom rail then the long rail to get position on the 7 ball, after that decide on the next ball to shoot. The stripe ball near the side pocket could be save as the break ball like last break shot.

Really appreciate you sharing this stuff, Mikie--and appreciate Varner and Archer for LETTING you share it (I assume you got their OK to put it up for us all to see).

Man, what a great run. I was hooked on it! I love watching pro matches, but there's something so fascinating about watching the pros play with their buddies while drinking mountain dew haha! Aside from the chilled out atmosphere, the one thing these type of videos have that tournament matches don't is player commentary! Don't get me wrong, I love Jim Wych and Danny DiLiberto, but hearing commentary from Johnny Archer and Nick Varner is just too cool =D

Thanks for sharing .

that's 120 cos Archer potted a ball before breaking first pack
Still that was an easy shot-professional like him must pot these

Gotta agree with you here. Getting balls off the rail is a big priority, usually, but it this case it was easy to work around and have an easier shot on it, and easier position on the 15, if he played it like you say. But when you consider that this was not a competition, and that Johnny must have been dog tired after flying coast to coast that morning, dealing with car rental, hotel, dinner, then my lesson... it's easy to let focus go for just a second, and that's all it takes!

Oops! Meant, with the 4 having been pocketed, he could have changed plans and played 7, 13, 12, 11 instead, leaving the 15 as his break shot.
thanks so much for this one, mikie. watching all these match videos around is surely entertaining, but nothing's as informative as hearing the man with the cue commenting on the things that he does. and if it's guys like johnny archer and nick varner, it doesn't get any better than that.
i'd love to see more of these, as i'm qualified for this year's german championships in october, and i'm a rank outsider so i'll need any kind of help i can get. :)
